Ooh that muddy river Its gonna take Julia Brown down down It was 1915 on the bayou But the legend still lives today She put a curse on the town with her voodoo And it struck as a hurricane Oh you can hear her singing its Julia Brown It was just a little song she didn't mean no harm But the voodoo came true when they laid her down And now the pearly gates are calling She's gonna take the whole town down down down She's gonna take the whole town down down down She's gonna take the whole town down down down She was a hurricane named Julia Brown Don't awaken the spirits within The voodoos breeding ground She sang this little song 'I'm gonna take the whole town down down down'

The Glow 06:19
Let it glow let it burn real bright Let it glow like the stars at night Up above and all around I can see into the night I never thought it would have happened this way I never thought it would have been like this I never thought it would have happened this way Like this Let it glow let it burn real bright Let it glow like the stars at night Up above and all around I can see into the night My eyes are open now I see you in the light I like to watch the days turning into night I never thought I'd see a light so bright With you

The Undertow 06:15
Well I've drifted across This land of the brave and free Just to wash up again In the same old place I didn't wanna be Feels like I washed up every sunrise Just one too many times Down by the same damn shore I only wish I, I only wish I Would have washed up at your door Cause now she's drifted away And I paddled to save her But in this big drink The tide it pulls you under It pulls you down Keep on wading Keep on wading through the undertow Keep on wading Keep on wading but it won't let you go Cause now she's drifted away And I paddled to save her But now I'm lost in this paradise Cause the tide it pulled me under It pulled me away The politicians they won't help you now But they'll try and persuade you The TV preacher he won't save your soul Cause you can only save your own Keep on wading Keep on wading through the undertow Keep on wading Keep on wading but it won't take you home No it won't take you home No it won't take you home

My Volcano 04:54
Tell me what are you gonna do Are you gonna run Or will you stay And join the fun? Its breathing fire from the ground Its blowing smoke all around Its my volcano Its my volcano Blowing up my volcano Its my volcano Its my favorite way to pass the time Bring your umbrella and I'll bring the wine We'll fill the sky up with big black clouds And we'll watch the world come burning down
5.
Illuminated 05:25
Waiting for the time is right I see you step out into the light Illuminated you're a sight And its you I think it might be you Yea its you I think it might be you And as I scan for answers why I see a twinkle in your eye And its you I think it might be you Yea its you I think it might be you Now that I got you in my sight The clouds break and the lightning strikes Now that I got you in my sight for the very first time
6.
Vibrations 06:49
Oooo good vibrations are all around and around and around Oooo I can feel it coming round and around and around Just wanna see you set yourself free Cause we all need to feel something true Cause we are made of vibrations Can't you feel them spinning around Oh yes its feels so right Oh yes it feels so right I could do this every night With you and the moon up above Its something in the air I can feel it spread from you to me Not just in my head I can feel it blowing in the breeze And blowing in the trees
7.
When I'm down down down I know its all gonna come back around It comes around around around And I feel good feel good again And all I can say is that this was meant to be And all I can see is that all we've got is time The truth is simple and I'm here tonight So don't ask no questions why I've searched for answers But I haven't made up my mind Cause you never know what you mind find I just wanna take a picture in my distorted memory And I hope this one will last the test of time When I'm down down down I know its all gonna come back around It comes around around around And I feel good feel good again The one thing we can't control is time So don't think about it The one thing we can't control is time So don't think about it The one thing we can't control is time
8.
Well I don't need too much these days I got my dog and my pick up truck And everything is gonna be a-okay Cause all I need is my fishing rod and a beautiful day I learned a long time ago You got to appreciate the simple things Like sippin' on the moonshine Having a good time Watching the river flow on down the stream I watch the sunset every day and listen to crickets sing And the forest comes alive it comes alive with mystery And I thought I saw my daddy walking in the trees But it must have been his ghost I swore I saw him walking down by the river streams Where we used to go But it must have been the moonshine Having a good time Watching the river flow on down the stream

Good Man 07:39
I run hide they seek I gotta play this game you see I pray when I lay to sleep Oh lord take care of me Cause I'm a good man Can't you see A hard working man Support my family And I get by on the skin of my teeth Oh its a good life but it ain't easy And it gets so hard Always trying to keep up the beat We getting by on what we can Everyday is a struggle can't see no end Been on the block for so damn long Ain't nothing changed since my daddy been gone And after all is said and done I hope the one thing my children learned from me Is how to love Cause I'm a good man Can't you see A hard working man Support my family And we get by on the skin of our teeth Oh its a good life My daddy taught me everything But it gets so hard Always trying to keep up the beat He was a good man He was a good man My daddy was a good man

If you ever go down to Mexico make sure you know where to go I got a señorita I hope she's waiting for me at a little drinking hole So I head down to that cantina where I met a man named Joe He was a fast talker he put them down even faster Sat down next to my stool He leaned over and mumbled in my ear I don't come around here without mi pistola oooo mi pistola I can feel all the eyes upon me And all they want is my bounty So I went down south and crossed the border Now I can feel Jose is looking over my shoulder Well the bartender came over and he poured Jose a shot of tequila He looked me dead in the eye and then he whispered in Joe's ear That's when Jose got up and pointed his gun And now I'm staring down the spiral of Jose's Pistola I'm looking down Jose's Pistola I can feel the crazy look in his eyes With one finger on the trigger and his gun in the sky But he don't know where I come from I pull my sixshooter and I let one ring for my freedom Well I wake up at the crack of dawn and I finish my tequila Jose he didn't last very long and now I'm riding in his el camino I can hear the coyotes in the distance I can hear them singing my songs Baby I can hear the coyotes in the distance and I know that this is where I belong Out in the desert its a hundred and fifteen degrees And there ain't nothing out here except for the cacti and tumble weeds I can feel that this is where I belong I hear them singing my songs Yea this is where I belong I can feel this is where I belong

Its getting warm and the stars are out So won't you come walking with me Its warm tonight and the stars are bright So won't you come walking with me I know place where we can go Just you and me Its a little place where the moon is bright And the stars shine for you and for me So won't you come with me Cause all we need is here can't you see See that glow its shining for you and me So true so true And the fireflies they light up the night And they twinkle for you and me And its you and I in the moonlight Like it was painted in our dreams Hurdling through space Yea we're hurdling through space Yea we're just hurdling through space On this little blue marble we call the Earth

about

The self-titled sophomore effort from North Carolina rockers BIG Something is an 80-minute party filled with everything jam fans love – an expertly-played, eclectic mix of rock, funk, jazz, reggae and more spaced over 12 songs, each with its own distinct vibe. Opening track “The Curse of Julia Brown” tiptoes in with a touch of synth, then lets loose a thunderous guitar riff and bass line, giving way to a tidal wave of horns. Combined with Nick MacDaniels’ commanding vocals, it gives every indication that this album is about to rock your face off. “The Undertow” feels like a day at the beach with its airy sax and sunny reggae rhythm. Raise-your-lighters-in-the-air ballad “Bright Lights” is the perfect closer. One listen brings on an urgent desire to see this tremendous six-piece tear it up live. – Relix Magazine
